How I Paint Portraits
The Portrait Process
I will create a pastel portrait using your photos. It is important to have clear, detailed photos of your pet, house, or other location. A brief description of your subject matter is helpful to understand what is important to you about your treasured memory.
During the painting in progress, I will send images step by step in order to receive any thoughts from you that will represent the final portrait.
With pets, choose or take photos of him in the environment or background you wish to see him in and also have some close up photos so I can have detail of his face. The expression, “the eyes tell all”, is very true and is a good place for me to start to capture your pet’s true spirit. I know as a pet lover how important it is to have his face in a portrait look back at me as if he were right there with me. I love to bring out those unique features of your pet that make up his personality whether it be a raised eye brow, tilt of his head, mouth open with a smile or his tongue hanging out to the side. These are the fun details I delight in capturing as well as his environment or background.
